Anekdot Ulama 38: Guru Besar Darul Uloom Meninggal Dunia

With extreme pain and grief, it is informed that Maulana Marghoobur Rahman, Mudir of Darul Uloom Deoband died on 8 Dec 2010 (1 Muharram 1432) Wednesday in his native town Bijnor,UP. [Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un] May Allah forgive him and grant him high ranks in Jannah. Amen!

Maulana passed away in his hometown Bijnor where he was staying for past several months due to prolonged illness and weakness.

He was about one hundred year old. He held the post of Mohtmim (Rector/VC/Mudir) of Darul Uloom Deoband for thirty years (from 1981-2010). This period is bright era of the history of Darul Uloom Deoband. Darul Uloom Deoband made extraordinary progress under his administration and it developed leaps and bounds. Numerous huge buildings constructed, the old ones were renovated, several educational departments were launched and many reforms were introduced in the education system.

Maulana Marghoobur Rahman graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband in 1352 (1932). He was appointed as Member Shura of Darul Uloom Deoband in 1382 (1962). Later, after the 100th anniversary of Darul Uloom Deoband in 1982, he was assigned the post of Mudir. He undertook the post in a critical time and served Darul Uloom in exemplary style with his god-gifted ability and insight.

We appeal to all well-wishers, madrasa authorities and those related to Darul Uloom to pray for his forgiveness and isal-u-thawab.

Kurikulum Darul Uloom juga seperti institusi lain mengalami perubahan dari masa ke semasa sesuai dengan tuntutan semasa. Jika dibandingkan dengan apa yang tertera di dalam buku History Of the Darul Uloom Deoband kebanyakan buku yang digunakan pada pada zaman dahulu masih digunakan pada waktu ini. Walau bagaimanapun banyak kitab dikeluarkan daripada dijadikan silibus terutama yang menyentuh ilmu-ilmu seperti Tasawwuf, Falak, Falsafah, Mantik, Munazarah dan ilmu2 Ma`qulat yang komplikated. Malah terdapat kitab-kitab yang saya pelajari tahun 90an telah pun dikeluarkan tanpa penggantian atau diganti dengan kitab lain. Misalnya kitab-kitab yang tidak dijadikan silibus lagi ialah Syarah Jami (Nahu) dan Kanzu Daqaiq (Fekah). Manakala kitab yang diubah tajuk silibusnya ialah Dewan Mutanabbi dan Hamasah yang hanya ditukar kepada syair2 pilihan sahaja. Beberapa kitab berbentuk introduction dalam bentuk tashil kepada sesuatu ilmu diperkenalkan juga. Contohnya dalam Balaghah Durusul Balaghah, dalam mantik Asan Mantiq, dalam b. Arab Miftahul Arabia, dalam usul fekah Tashilul Usul. Ketika zaman saya kitab-kitab seperti ini tiada dalam silibus. Teringat saya kata-kata Sheikhul Hadis Mufti Saed Palanpuri ketika mengajar kami kitab Hujattullahul Balighah tentang masalah silibus. Komen beliau kitab yang sukar-sukar itu tidak sepatutnya dikeluarkan malah ia sepatutnya dipermudahkan dengan bantuan-bantuan yang tertentu seperti dengan menyediakan kitab-kitab pengenalan terlebih dahulu. Kitab-kitab itu tidak seharusnya dikeluarkan kerana ia mampu menyediakan isti`dad pelajar untuk membaca kitab-kitab yang besar dan komplikated. Besar kemungkinan kitab-kitab tashil yang diperkenalkan oleh Darul Uloom itu adalah hasil idea Mufti Saed Palanpuri. Dalam jadual di atas tidak dimasukkan Takmilaat yang baru dibuka iaitu Takahssusu fil Hadis atau Takmil-e- Hadith.
